A routine of intro work, lecture, demonstration, and then independent work can be repetitive but will help keep you moving and the kids focused. Try to but change gears too many times, it will make disjointed transitions and worse knowledge retainment. Lessons should flow into each other, topics in the same day need to overlap tightly. Long, ongoing projects will be your friend for early finishers and days they get it quicker than expected.

I haven't taught in this type of system, but a friend of mine has! She had a major grade every Friday (either quiz or test) and moved pretty freaking fast. And part of it will require having no mercy with the schedule which may feel a bit cruel the first year as y'all all adjust to it (new to students too!). She taught chemistry in this style. Warm up as the kids come in, main lesson and notes, then a lab or practice problems and an exit ticket. Same schedule every day so that students knew exactly what they'd be doing and what they missed if they were out. You will want to take some time to figure out where you can combine lessons. Especially because you'll essentially be doing two lessons a day! You got this!!

Just make sure to have parts that don't last too long. I have 2 hour blocks. 30 mins of direct instruction, then some project, then pass out the homework in the last 30 for those that finish faster. Sometimes the first 30 could be an individual task like a reading. Just know how long things take the students to do and piece several things together that fill the time. Don't let any activity take the whole time unless it has flexibility, students will burn out. Make sure to have some backup activities/worksheets because early finishes make room for idle hands to do the devil's work.
