Chargebacks for festival
Never won one single one EVER.
commentI run events as well, for many many years. Same deal as you as far as chargebacks, same no refund policy etc. On average we get $2000 in chargebacks per event. Never won one single one EVER. We have full proof that they purchased it, and most times have actually used the ticket. Doesn't matter. Full loss of the ticket money AND an extra charge for the chargeback. Huge scam. Credit card companies are a fucking sham. They don't take the hit. The multi billion dollar ticketing company doesn't take the hit. The small business takes the hit, 100% of the time. It's total bullshit and it's completely illegal what patrons are doing. They've signed off before purchase that they agree to buying a ticket where there are no refunds, whether they attend or not. And there ain't nothing we can do about any of it. I asked our ticketing company about it and they said we were lucky it's such a small amount and most people get it worse. The super annoying thing is we can see that most of the time the patron showed up, used the ticket, then still had the guts to call in a chargeback a few days later. It's a big gut punch for a small business.

OPPORTUNITY & VALUE
Multiple organizers report identical experiences of losing disputes despite strong proof, with repeated complaints about credit card company bias.
Event-specific evidence protocols and templates that generic chargeback tools lack, focusing on visual/timestamped attendance proof ignored by processors.
Specialized SaaS that automates collection of timestamped, multi-modal evidence (scans, photos, check-ins) at purchase and entry, then generates optimized dispute packages tailored to event contexts for processors.
How does it make money?
MONETIZATION
Model
Organizers repeatedly lose hundreds to thousands per event on chargebacks they have proof for; signals show they already raise prices to offset losses, making a dedicated defense tool a clear ROI purchase.
How do you ship it?
MVP PLAN
“Stop losing event ticket chargebacks with irrefutable attendance proof.”
Specialized SaaS that automates collection of timestamped, multi-modal evidence (scans, photos, check-ins) at purchase and entry, then generates optimized dispute packages tailored to event contexts for processors.

RISKS & ASSUMPTIONS
Top Risks
Even strong evidence may fail due to systemic favoritism toward customers in event disputes.
Attendees may resist photo/scan steps at entry, impacting user experience.
Reliable real-time evidence capture across varied event platforms is technically challenging.
Seasonal or infrequent events may limit recurring subscription value.

Generate an investment memoWhat this score means
This opportunity scores well above the median for ideas surfaced by MonetScope, with a validation sub-score of 9/10 against 3 independently sourced evidence signals. A "strong" rating in this band typically means the pain signal is consistent and recurring across multiple discussions, but one of the three pillars (severity, willingness to pay, or competitor weakness) is somewhat softer than top-tier opportunities. Founders evaluating this should focus customer discovery on the softest pillar first — confirming the gap before committing engineering time to a build.
Why this matters for SaaS founders
It sits at the intersection of "automation", "cost-reduction", "events", which makes it relevant to a specific subset of founders rather than a generic horizontal opportunity. SaaS opportunities at this stage tend to win on the strength of their initial wedge — a single workflow that the target user runs every week, where the existing solution is either spreadsheets, a clunky incumbent feature, or a manual process they hate. The build cost is moderate; the distribution cost is everything. The MonetScope pipeline surfaces this category alongside other saas signals, which is why it appears here rather than in a generic "trending ideas" feed.

Frequently asked questions
Is "ChargeLock Events: Win Ticket Chargeback Disputes" a real validated startup idea or just an AI-generated suggestion?
MonetScope does not generate ideas from a language model's imagination. Every opportunity on this site is anchored to specific source posts and comments from real public discussions — typically on Reddit, Hacker News, or X — where actual users describe the pain in their own words. The AI's role is structuring, scoring, and grouping those signals into a navigable opportunity, not inventing the problem.
How recent is the underlying data for automation?
MonetScope's spider pipeline runs continuously and surfaces opportunities as new evidence accumulates. The "Updated" date in the header reflects the most recent re-scoring of this specific opportunity. Most saas opportunities visible in the public catalog draw from discussions in the last 30-60 days; older signals are de-prioritized because user pain shifts faster than most founders assume.
What's the difference between "overall score" and "validation score"?
Overall score is a composite across six dimensions — pain, urgency, willingness to pay, market size, defensibility, and execution ease — designed to give a single number for triage. Validation score is narrower: it asks "how cleanly does the same signal repeat across independent sources?" An opportunity can score high on overall but lower on validation when one or two large discussions dominate the evidence; conversely, validation can be high on a smaller-overall idea where the signal is consistent but the addressable market is modest.
