I noticed you are using PNGs for all the imagery which is quite heavy on the connection used, you could probably improve it by using webp on browsers that support it (you can look into picture tags for example). Also what is causing the lagging for other users (for me as well on Firefox desktop) is probably the smoke animation in the canvas. I removed it from the DOM with dev tools and it got quite smoother. Hope this helps with the image load time.
