VettedEdu: Verifiably Remote Job Board for Licensed Teachers

Job listings for 'virtual teaching' are highly misleading, frequently masking requirements to report to physical buildings or offering low, unlivable wages. True remote roles with standard localized classroom salaries are incredibly scarce and hyper-competitive.

STAGE 01 · PROBLEM

Is the problem real?

CANONICAL PROBLEM

Licensed teachers seeking remote work face low-paying options, hyper-competitive job markets, and misleading job listings where 'virtual' teaching still requires physical, in-office attendance.

FREQUENCY
Multiple repeated complaints in the post and comments.
INTENSITY
Users explicitly describe existing tools as bloated/overkill and mention workaround behavior.

PAIN TRIGGERS

Virtual and work-from-home teaching positions pay significantly less than traditional, in-person teaching roles.
Job listings for 'virtual teaching' are often misleading because they still require teachers to report to a physical building daily.
True remote teaching jobs that pay standard, competitive salaries have extremely low vacancy rates and high competition.

EVIDENCE

teaching virtually does NOT necessarily mean the job position is remote.

comment

Be aware when you're looking for positions that teaching virtually does NOT necessarily mean the job position is remote. Many school districts have started virtual schools this decade (mine included), but the faculty and staff still report to a building every day. Even though it is posted, our virtual school apparently has issues with many of their applicants not expecting to be required to report and are applying not-locally. We are a very transient area, so many of our applicants are not local yet, so it's not really easy to weed them out.

This year it’s a 20k difference. Virtual/wfh teaching is very much starting to be something that is unsustainable for one income households.

comment

Pay disparity between virtual wfh teaching and in person teaching is widening substantially. This year it’s a 20k difference. Virtual/wfh teaching is very much starting to be something that is unsustainable for one income households. If you are a contributing income it’s a great job. I’ve been doing it for 6 years.

Where's the gap?

EXISTING SOLUTION GAPS

RISKS & ASSUMPTIONS

Top Risks

Low inventory of valid high-paying jobs

If the market structurally lacks high-paying remote roles, maintaining an active, non-empty job board will be difficult.

SEV 5
Employer classification shifts

Districts may change location policies midway through hiring cycles, invalidating our platform's core verified guarantee.

SEV 4
High teacher applicant churn

Once a teacher finds a sustainable contract, they will immediately cancel their premium subscription, requiring constant new acquisition.

What this score means

This opportunity scores well above the median for ideas surfaced by MonetScope, with a validation sub-score of 8/10 against 3 independently sourced evidence signals. A "strong" rating in this band typically means the pain signal is consistent and recurring across multiple discussions, but one of the three pillars (severity, willingness to pay, or competitor weakness) is somewhat softer than top-tier opportunities. Founders evaluating this should focus customer discovery on the softest pillar first — confirming the gap before committing engineering time to a build.

Why this matters for Other founders

It sits at the intersection of "education", "productivity", "remote-teams", which makes it relevant to a specific subset of founders rather than a generic horizontal opportunity. Opportunities in this category typically reward founders who can describe the pain in the user's own language — both because that's the basis of effective marketing, and because it's the strongest signal that the founder has done the upfront listening. The MonetScope pipeline surfaces this category alongside other other signals, which is why it appears here rather than in a generic "trending ideas" feed.

Scores are derived from real forum discussions across Reddit, Hacker News and X, weighted by evidence volume and signal quality. How scoring works

Frequently asked questions

Is "VettedEdu: Verifiably Remote Job Board for Licensed Teachers" a real validated startup idea or just an AI-generated suggestion?

MonetScope does not generate ideas from a language model's imagination. Every opportunity on this site is anchored to specific source posts and comments from real public discussions — typically on Reddit, Hacker News, or X — where actual users describe the pain in their own words. The AI's role is structuring, scoring, and grouping those signals into a navigable opportunity, not inventing the problem.

How recent is the underlying data for education?

MonetScope's spider pipeline runs continuously and surfaces opportunities as new evidence accumulates. The "Updated" date in the header reflects the most recent re-scoring of this specific opportunity. Most other opportunities visible in the public catalog draw from discussions in the last 30-60 days; older signals are de-prioritized because user pain shifts faster than most founders assume.

What's the difference between "overall score" and "validation score"?

Overall score is a composite across six dimensions — pain, urgency, willingness to pay, market size, defensibility, and execution ease — designed to give a single number for triage. Validation score is narrower: it asks "how cleanly does the same signal repeat across independent sources?" An opportunity can score high on overall but lower on validation when one or two large discussions dominate the evidence; conversely, validation can be high on a smaller-overall idea where the signal is consistent but the addressable market is modest.
